Yo Deb readers, welcome to the first installment of our weekly newsflash for all things up-and-coming, ‘Wednesday Obsessions’. We are excited to bring you the latest info on people, places and things being discussed around the world and around the world wide web. Start following us to receive an email each week when a new W.O. post is published!

HOT BRAND:

-We’re loving the inventive sneaker designs from Ash Footwear this spring - think wedged soles, bright colors, and the sleek addition of buckles in place of the classic velcro top… find past posts featuring Ash on Yo Deb here and here

GREAT READS:

-Stylist Brad Goreski is currently on a book tour for Born to Be Brad – follow his Twitter to see if he’s stopping in your city this week! (@mrbradgoreski)

-Ali in Wonderland by the ever-entertaining Ali Wentworth is full of side-splitting anecdotes from the philanthropist-slash-actress-slash-journalist-slash-wife (of Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulos), read an excerpt on GMA’s web site and get a copy immediately, like Deb did when she went to Ali’s recent book-signing at the Four Seasons!

-The Paris Wife by Paula McClain is all the rage amongst book clubs and reading circles (and comes highly recommended by our SCOUT Sport liaison, Carter) – get on the train today and buy a copy!

GEORGETOWN NEWSFLASH:

-Jonathan Adler will be opening a new store location in Georgetown, at 1267 Wisconsin Ave NW – sign up for the JA email list to get news on the opening (and sale promos in the meantime!)… check out 3 of about a zillion past posts featuring Jonathan Adler goods here, here, and here on Yo Deb

-Mike Isabella (of Top Chef fame), owner of Graffiato in Chinatown, will open a new restaurant with Mexican cuisine called Bandolero, at 3241 M St. NW (right where Hook used to be). Get a preview of the new restaurant here! Also be on the lookout for news on 2 more restaurants from Isabella in the coming months…

-The tiled-flooring brand FLOR recently opened in Cady’s Alley at 1037 33rd St. NW – just one visit to this design space will inspire you to re-think your flooring…

NYC NEWSFLASH:

-The Joe Fresh NY Flagship store opened a couple weeks ago at 510 5th Ave (between 42nd and 43rd Streets), take a peek inside at Racked NY

-Marni designer Conseula Castiglioni has a fab store you need to check out in the Meatpacking District called Marni Edition, located at 1 Gansevort St. (between Hudson and W. 13th Streets)… also be sure to check out this post on Yo Deb, one of several where we’ve featured Marni’s unique and timeless designs!

-Chelsea is becoming the new ‘hot’ neighborhood- the NoMad Hotel opened at the beginning of the month – view T Magazine’s profile here

-the Ace Hotel NY location (May 2010) was the groundbreaker for hip hotels with ‘extras’ – as of today, the Ace is home to the store Opening Ceremony, the John Dory (oyster bar), the Breslin (restaurant), No. 7 Sub (sub shop) and Stumptown Coffee… Deb has been staying at the Ace since it first opened in Chelsea – she speaks highly of the accommodations but especially of the hotel staff, who are some of the nicest, coolest 20- and 30-somethings in downtown NYC (with great tips on places to visit!)… check out one of our first Ace Hotel shout-outs on Yo Deb here

-at the same time the Ace opened, the Kimpton Hotel Group opened the Eventi Hotel to visitors and guests

-The Chelsea Hotel is home to the Doughnut Plant as of last year, selling of-the-moment flavors at the ground level of the hotel (which is currently undergoing renovations)
