Our bags this season feature slightly off-beat holiday colors… they’ll be your secret weapon while carting gifts this season. Gifting them is easy because not only do they pass beautifully as ‘holiday’, but after the holidays they’re equally chic. Our trick is to wrap or stuff the gift bags with acid green, pink, or metallic tissue to emphasize the ‘holiday’ aspect of the gifts. Our standby for gift-wrapping, Nashville Wraps has Bright Lime, Cerise, and Gold/Silver Tissue Papers in a variety of sizes.”

YOU, TOTING IN STYLE:

From left to right, Alice + Olivia Sunday Satin Blazer; SCOUT Original Deano Carryall in Black Swan Paisley; D&G Aubergine One-Button Blazer; SCOUT Cool Clutch in Black Swan Paisley; Ladies’ Barbour Plum Vintage Quilted Jacket.

THE GIFT LINEUP:

From left to right, Taschen’s London; Diane Arbus’ The Libraries; Richard Avedon’s Made in France; Lee Friedlander’s Apples and Olives.

Window-Shopping in Europe: Houndstooth, Herringbone, Glen Plaids October 31, 2011

“We love the graphic impact of houndstooth, herringbone, and exaggerated glen plaids in black and white mixed with each other or with other black and white graphic patterns. We also love bright accents inspired by the seventies to mix with these black and white altered classics. Think hot pink, royal blue, red, or pastels to punctuate this contemporary look. Varying scales is another way to keep this look fresh… consider micro to macro and hard-edged to blurred-edge for dynamic texture.”

Window-Shopping in Europe: Black and White October 24, 2011

“Black and white is correct in any season… day or night, casual to dressy, this season the best versions of this dynamic duo come to us via clever pattern and color-blocking. Influenced by the simplicity of modern cubist art, slabs of black on white or white on black look contemporary and chic. Whimsy comes into play with salt and pepper combinations in the form of dots, lace, stars, geometrics, paisley, and novelty feminine motifs. Another fashionable take on the black and white story is to wear black or white head to toe, then accent with the other in the form of an accessory (i.e. a hat, a glove, a boot, or a bag).”

Scout is using retro black and white photos throughout our Spring/Summer 2010 campaign (with our colorful Scout products added). We were inspired and delighted to see the plethora of black and white imagery and typeface used in the fashion windows  and signage all over Europe. Black and white is the perfect foil to color for the season and becomes a timeless way to illustrate contemporary fashion dimensions.

Black and white graphics are hotter than ever. One of our favorites is from Vilebrequin ,  printed on men and boy  swim trunks, featured in a window in Paris. Great for seaside getaways to pool play, we think you can pack these for the man in your life in our Signature Scout Fast Getaway. Our Signature Scout pattern is not only timeless but directional in black and white…great for the weekend getaway.
